newtonmore highland hotel review

Ever wanted to stay in a lovely village in the Highlands, nestled within a national park? The Newtonmore Highlander Hotel is located in the Cairngorms National Park. In case you didn't know, this park is the perfect destination for adventures. It's filled with beautiful rivers and lochs, ancient forests, and wildlife. It's the largest National Park in the UK in the Scottish Highlands! And it's not only a must-visit for nature lovers. Even those who like to be active in the outdoors will love it. Think about watersports, snowsports, and many walking and cycling routes.

You might think: isn’t Newtonmore a highly popular place, because it lies within this National Park? Yes, it is popular, but it will still be peaceful and quiet. There are many open spaces, and stunning views and the atmosphere in the village is warm. Therefore, it’s an ideal option to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Newtonmore is also filled with fun attractions – even for children. Think about the Ardverikie Estate, the Highland Folk Museum, or the Clan Macpherson Museum where you can find out a lot about the clan's history. Children (and even adults) will love the so-called 'Wildcat experience' at Newtonmore, which is a ‘treasure hunt’ of the Scottish Wildcat.

So you probably agree with me that the place is amazing. But what about Newtonmore Highlander Hotel?

Is Newtonmore Highlander Hotel a good place to stay?

Located only 7 miles away from the Highland Wildlife Park, and 1 minute from the Highland Folk Museum, you will have a brilliant location to stay. You don't have to travel far to see beautiful scenery and do fun activities. Inside the Newtonmore Highlander Hotel, you will also experience a warm and welcoming atmosphere – which suits the village of Newtonmore. The hotel wants to assure you that you'll always get a warm welcome – no matter when you come. The hotel looks charming, but it isn't small. There are 85 en-suite bedrooms!

Newtonmore Highlander Hotel has a large on-site car park, which is very convenient for family gatherings, small meetings, and group travels. But even if you're planning to stay alone or with your significant other, and you seek a place for a getaway in the Highlands, then in Newtonmore Highlander Hotel you’ll truly feel like you’re away from it all.

Good to mention is that Newtonmore Highlander Hotel is dog-friendly! So you can bring your four-legged friend with you.

The rooms in Newtonmore Highlander Hotel

Newtonmore Highlander Hotel is excellent for bigger groups, couples, or persons who’d like to stay alone. So no matter with how many people you’re planning to stay, you will always find a room that suits you. The hotel is well-suited for people with mobility issues as well as many rooms are located on the ground floor.

All rooms have tea and coffee facilities, a satellite TV, and a hairdryer. Good to mention is that Newtonmore Highlander Hotel uses a no-smoking policy. So the rooms will smell fresh – and they are clean and tidy. You will have free Wi-Fi throughout the whole hotel.

The beds are very comfy which will help you to get a good night’s sleep. Also, the village is known to be peaceful and quiet so you won’t experience partying people in the alley. The rooms are known to be quiet but this also depends a little bit on the people around you. For the smallest risk of noise, I recommend choosing a room on the upper floor level.

These are the type of rooms you can find in Newtonmore Highlander Hotel:

Restaurant Newtonmore highlander hotel

The restaurant at Newtonmore Highlander Hotel

A big reason why Newtonmore Highlander Hotel is praised by so many visitors is also because of its amazing restaurant. The chefs try to make the best of every single meal and the waiting staff is beyond helpful. There's more than enough to eat, and the food is very well-prepared and tasty. Do you remember restaurants where you got such a small portion of food, which makes you think they forgot the rest? Well, you won’t experience that at Newtonmore Highlander Hotel. You’ll get a good portion of food, and there’s even entertainment in the lounge.

Besides, your dog is welcome in a separate part of the restaurant as well!

Is Newtonmore Highlander Hotel value for money?

In our opinion, Newtonmore Highlander Hotel is excellent value for money. You will get a cheaper price if you prepay for the rooms. So if you pay upfront, you'll have an even more valuable stay here. All the prices mentioned above with the rooms are for the rooms only. If you want, you can also book a breakfast or enhance your stay with house wine. When you add house wine to your checkout, there will be a bottle of house red or white wine in the room when you arrive.

But the price for the rooms is not the only reason Newtonmore Highlander Hotel is excellent value for money. This is also because the restaurant is amazing, the hotel has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and you’ll find very friendly and efficient staff who look after their guests. Besides, the beds feel very comfy and the rooms are spotlessly clean – even with the dogs that are allowed to stay here.

In Newtonmore Highlander Hotel you’ll be sure of an ideal starting point to explore the Cairngorms National Park, interesting museums, or the lovely city of Inverness: the capital of the Highlands. I also highly recommend visiting Adverikie which you can see in the picture above (only about 30 minutes away).

There are lots of things to see and do in the area. Even though the restaurant of Newton Highlander Hotel is great, you can also decide to go to restaurants or cafes within a walking distance from the hotel.
