Bovsville Hotel Review by Travelpreneur Lifestyle

If you're planning to visit the Isle of Skye, you can't miss Portree. This is the heart of the island, that's rich in history and has a lot of natural beauty. Is it worth staying or dining at The Bosville Hotel in Portree? That’s what you’ll get to know in this review. Welcome!

The Bosville Hotel has both upsides and downsides, so depending on your preferences, you can make the best choice for yourself in the end. Let me give you a little spoiler: The Bosville Hotel is probably one of your must-go-to’s when you’re in the area. And one more: it also has a lovely cottage which is a perfect hideaway for two! The hotel is located in Portree, which is the capital of the Isle of Skye and at the same time it's the largest town. It also has the only secondary school on the island, which is named Portree High School.

The location of this hotel is ideal, as it sits in the centre of Portree. You’ll also get one of the best views in town as there’s a harbour on the opposite side of the hotel. This harbour is fringed by cliffs and has a pier designed by Thomas Telford, who was a Scottish civil engineer born in 1757. If you’re planning to go to Portree by public transport, then you have to make use of buses (or ferries).

The Bosville Hotel sits within a trio of 19th-century cottages with 20 relaxed rooms. Nowadays, it’s a modern hotel as it’s newly refurbished. And if you’re looking for a good place to eat, then The Bosville Hotel is already worth visiting. It has an award-winning Dulse & Brose restaurant and Merchant Bar. You’ll find both residents and non-residents within the bar and restaurant. Therefore, it could be a great place to catch up with old friends! The restaurant only makes use of fresh, Scottish produce.

Rooms at The Bosville Hotel

The 20 rooms at The Bosville Hotel are comfortable, clean, and quiet, and have a simplistic yet stylish design. These rooms also have small Scottish touches, as they mix contemporary neutrals with cushions and throws from the Isle of Skye. They use colours of autumn woods, soft silver mouse browns and russet. Anyways, the pictures probably speak for themselves. If you love a modern, simplistic and stylish design then you’ll love how these rooms look.

Every single room has the following amenities:

  • Free Wi-Fi
  • In-room safes
  • Luxury bedding with 100% cotton sheets
  • Coffee & tea making facilities
  • Espresso machine
  • High-pressure Rainfall showers
  • 40-inch television
  • Cosy bathrobes and slippers (only in superior & premium rooms)

Cosy Double

Even though the cosy double room is the ‘’simplest’’, smallest and most affordable room at The Bosville Hotel, you’ll still get a lovely view towards the harbour. Moreover, the beds are very comfortable as these are luxurious air pocket beds and there’s a television. The rooms aren't spacious but not small either: it has a mini table and some other interiors which feature modern Scottish craft makers. As with all rooms, you’ll get a great and high-pressure rainfall shower in your ensuite bathroom.

The price of the cosy double room starts at £89.00 per night, which makes it good value for money! Especially because you’ll get both the quality and the views. We’ve reviewed many hotels in Scotland and there are plenty of them out there who ask the same for a lot less quality (just basic rooms without comfy beds).
